7th – 10th September 2012 Hannah's at Seale Hayne, Newton Abbot, Devon, UK — to be confirmed

Course Poster

Since 1999 Luke has been invited to teach at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The yearly sculpture course for surgeons run by the Raven College, the educational wing of the Royal College is entitled “Sculpture for Surgeons”, but known as the “heads” course.

Since 2006 the course has moved home to Cambridge and is now convened by Per Hall FRCS (Plast). The sculpture course aims to give plastic and maxillofacial surgeons the practical training of developing hand—eye coordination and an accurate understanding of 3-D awareness. Roy Saunders and Brian Morgan have previously convened a sculpture course for surgeons.

“The hand cannot always coordinate the shapes the mind sees. The course is about closing that gap and training surgeons to understand what the eye sees so that they may use this understanding in their work ".

This year the course will be held at Broomhill Art Hotel in North Devon.

Luke also leads similar courses from his studio in Devon. Both artists and surgeons alike often attend these.

Testimonials

We were delighted with the way (the course) went and realised that it was thanks to your expertise Luke and your great teaching abilities.

Ron Pigott — Royal College Surgeons of England

Thank you once again for a most successful ‘Heads’ course. It was just wonderful to see a bunch of surgeons respond to your teaching and learn how to look accurately. What is more they all had so much enjoyment doing it.

Brian Morgan — Royal College Surgeons of England

Thank you for your patient instruction last week. I don't know when I enjoyed a week as much and it has certainly heightened my perception of facial features.
